Elevion Group acquires Maserati Energia and integrates urban waste treatment into its green-gas platform
“This transaction marks an important evolution of our industrial perimeter and strengthens Elevion Group’s leadership role in Italy’s bioenergy sector,” said Jaroslav Macek, CEO of Elevion Group.

The transaction forms part of Elevion Group’s broader investment strategy for Italy, with €40 million already allocated for 2025 and a total commitment set to reach €250 million by 2030.
The integration of the Maserati Energia facility into the Group’s asset portfolio expands Elevion’s green-gas operations beyond its established footprint in agricultural biomethane, adding a dedicated platform for the treatment of compostable municipal and special waste.
“This transaction marks an important evolution in our industrial scope and reinforces Elevion Group’s position as a leading player in Italy’s bioenergy sector,” said Jaroslav Macek, CEO of Elevion Group.
“With the Maserati Energia facility, we can now cover the entire green-gas production chain and incorporate compostable-waste valorisation into our Bee Hive ESCo model, which brings together energy efficiency, renewable energy and digital solutions within a single decarbonisation platform”, concluded Claudio Sanna, CEO of Elevion ITALY.
The deal was finalised with Paolo Maserati, CEO of the Maserati Group, who continues his family’s nearly 40-year entrepreneurial legacy in the waste-treatment sector. Maserati will remain in the company as a minority shareholder, bringing substantial industry experience and a long-standing relationship with the local territory.
“Joining Elevion Group was a decision grounded in trust and in a shared industrial vision focused on quality, innovation and strong local roots,” said Paolo Maserati. “We chose Elevion Group because it is a solid, reliable partner capable of enhancing the value we have built over the years. I am confident that this transaction will ensure continuity for our entrepreneurial journey and open new growth opportunities for the company and for our team.”
All employees of the company will join Elevion Group as part of the acquisition, ensuring full operational continuity. Elevion plans to invest in and further develop the capabilities of the Maserati Energia team, integrating it into a broader industrial platform for green-gas production and offering new growth opportunities within a long-term strategic framework.
Among its most recent operations in Italy, Elevion Group has completed the acquisition of a cluster of three biogas plants in Cremona—now being converted to biomethane production—signed a framework agreement with AB Group to develop five new biomethane plants across Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy, and launched a strategic partnership with RDR S.p.A. Società Benefit to integrate industrial water-treatment capabilities into the Bee Hive offering. These initiatives further strengthen the Group’s presence in the bioenergy and industrial-sustainability sectors, consolidating its integrated ESCo model as a core pillar of its end-to-end decarbonisation strategy.
Key facts about the Maserati Energia plant
Included in the provincial waste-management plan of Piacenza, the Maserati Energia plant is a strategic infrastructure asset for the region, combining sustainable waste management, high-quality compost production and renewable-energy generation.
With a treatment capacity of more than 60,000 tonnes per year of biodegradable municipal and special waste — including food waste, green waste and residues from the agri-food sector — sourced from across the province of Piacenza, the facility is able to produce 500 cubic metres of biomethane per hour.
The biomethane is injected into the national gas network and used to support the decarbonisation of road transport. In addition, the process yields Ammendante Compostato Misto (ACM), a certified-quality compost supplied to local agricultural and horticultural companies, thereby completing the recovery cycle.
