Elevion Group becomes one of the leading service providers for biogas plants, decentralized cogeneration, and engine conversions with the acquisition of SERCOO Group

Elevion Group, a leading European provider of end-to-end decarbonization and higher energy efficiency solutions, has acquired SERCOO Group GmbH and its subsidiaries. The group of companies, headquartered in Lingen, is one of the leading German providers of services for operators of biogas plants and combined heat and power plants as well as the overhaul of engines and other plant components. With this acquisition, Elevion Group strengthens its market position in the areas of renewable energies and decentralized energy supply and at the same time gains competence for the increasing future demand for alternative drive systems for stationary and mobile applications.

"With the acquisition of SERCOO Group, we are significantly expanding our position as one of the leading providers of complex solutions for the energy transition," says Jaroslav Macek, CEO of Elevion Group B.V. "We are extending our already large portfolio of services that help our clients to achieve their decarbonization targets.  Shift to renewable fuels is one of the pillars of the European energy transition and now we are taking further steps to expand our capabilities in this area. "

Mark Suderow, Partner at DPE, added: "DPE believes in investing in business models that make a positive contribution to society. Since 2008, we have made many investments in the renewable energy sector, among others. We are particularly proud of the SERCOO Group. Together with the management, we have tripled the group's turnover through targeted organic and inorganic growth and created one of Germany's leading technical service providers for the energy transition. We are convinced that we have found an excellent partner in Elevion Group to continue this success story!"

Technology partner for climate protection investments

As a full-service provider, SERCOO Group covers the entire value chain for the operation of biogas plants and combined heat and power plants. On the other hand, the company specializes in the overhaul and maintenance of large diesel and gas engines as well as compressors, pumps, and gearboxes for a wide range of industries and their conversion to alternative fuels. Customers are mainly agricultural businesses, municipalities, energy suppliers, engine manufacturers as well as companies in the railway, transport, and other industrial sectors. With around 300 employees, the group of companies generated a turnover of approximately €62 million in 2022.

"Investments in climate protection technology only pay off in the long term if maintenance and overhaul also function on site," says Jens Goldmund, Managing Director of Elevion Energy & Engineering Solutions GmbH, one of the two German holdings of Elevion Group B.V. and a new shareholder of SERCOO Group. "With its 6 subsidiaries, SERCOO Group can offer this to its customers almost everywhere in Germany and is thus an important further building block for our growth strategy in the areas of CO2 avoidance and energy efficiency."

"For the employees of SERCOO Group, being part of Elevion Group's international network of companies brings longterm prospects and thus jobs with a future," adds Markus Spitzer, CEO of SERCOO Group. "The two groups of companies are a good fit, both in terms of the range of services they offer and in terms of the medium-sized corporate culture that has grown up over many years. This will allow us to further leverage our strengths and grow robustly."
