Elevion Group succesfully finalized the Acquisition of Horti Padani - cluster of three biogas plants in Cremona

The European group continues to expand its operations in Italy and confirms its growth strategy in the green gas production sector.

Elevion Group, a leading European provider of end-to-end solutions for decarbonization and higher energy efficiency, announces that it has successfully completed the acquisition of the Horti Padani biogas plants in Cremona.

The plants, like the others already acquired by Elevion Group in Italy, will be converted to the production of advanced biomethane, with the goal of injecting approximately 900 standard cubic meters per hour into the natural gas distribution network by June 2025

Located in the Cremona area, where Elevion Group is already present with two other plants also in conversion, the Horti Padani plant will be fed mainly with agro-industrial by-products and livestock effluents. All the biomass used will be procured from local suppliers certified for sustainability within an integrated supply chain context. The goal is to ensure a reduction in emissions of at least 80% compared to fossil gas and to enhance the value of the molecule produced with a view to circular economy and industrialization of the sector.

The acquisition of this additional plant, one of the largest biomethane plants in north Italy, significantly increases the European group's asset portfolio and confirms Elevion Group's growth strategy in the biomethane production sector in Italy. In fact, the group aims to reach an hourly production of 5,400 standard cubic meters of biomethane by 2026.

This acquisition marks a step forward in Elevion Group's expansion and consolidation strategy in Italy and highlights the group's strong commitment to the key role biomethane plays in driving the country's energy transition– says Jaroslav Macek, CEO of Elevion Group . " We reaffirm our commitment to strengthening our presence in this sector. in line with our industrial plan, with the goal of producing and delivering 42.5 million standard cubic meters by 2026 to support the decarbonization of energy-intensive industrial processes".

Claudio Sanna, CEO of  Elevion Group | ITALY commented: “This is a highly strategic operation through which we have successfully integrated into our asset portfolio one of the most important biomethane production plants from agricultural biomass in Northern Italy. This acquisition further strengthens Elevion Group’s leading role in the green gas production sector, which represents a key pillar of our service factory and value delivery model”.

The agreement was concluded with the well-known Cremona entrepreneur Piergiorgio Scarani, also active in the agricultural sector, who will join the company as a minority shareholder, bringing a large capital of experience in the management of the agricultural supply chain and a consolidated and trusting relationship with the territory.

Biomethane is a sustainable alternative to fossil gas to decarbonize high-temperature industrial processes, and which does not require technological upgrades. It can be stored, distributed, and used according to demand, and has high versatility for different end-uses (buildings, industry, transportation, and power generation).
