Energy efficiency project for S.I.O.T.

Challenge

Ensuring a reliable, energy-efficient energy supply for one of Europe’s most strategic energy infrastructures while increasing the transport capacity of the SIOT–TAL crude oil pipeline. The project required a solution capable of combining operational reliability, energy efficiency and future readiness for renewable fuels, supporting the long-term energy security of Central Europe.

Solution

Elevion Group is delivering a high-efficiency cogeneration solution consisting of seven CHP units across four sites along the SIOT–TAL pipeline, providing a total installed electrical capacity of more than 26 MWe. The generated electricity powers the pipeline pumping stations, while the recovered heat is used to reduce crude oil viscosity, improving transport efficiency and increasing pipeline throughput. The CHP units are also ready to operate with biomethane, supporting the gradual decarbonization of the infrastructure. The project is being developed and operated in cooperation with EnerProject.

  • Construction and operation of seven highly efficient combined heat and power plants
  • Total capacity of 26 MWe along the TAL pipeline
  • Use of heat from the combined heat and power plants to increase oil throughput and use of electricity to power the oil pumps
